Registration is Open for our 15th Anniversary FAR-West Music Conference, in Woodland Hills, CA at the Warner Center Marriott, October 11-14, 2018
Early Bird registration rates are available until May 31st. Rates are Only $160 for Folk Alliance members, and $185 for non-members. Prices go up $25 on June 1st. For Canadian attendees, there is a rate that helps adjust for the currency exchange, using the code OCanada. Bands of 3 or more members who register together will get a $10 per person savings. In addition, there are presenter discounts available for house concert hosts, DJs, small venues and arts organizations. Email Jeanette Lundgren (meetmepresents at gmail dot com) to see if you qualify.
Though Official Showcase Submissions have closed, there are still a number of ways to showcase your music and stories at our conference. For First Timers, we have the New Voices in the West Showcase room. Placement for these slots is first come first served, so the sooner you register, the more likely you will be offered a slot. There is the Friday and Saturday afternoon Susanne Millsaps Coffeehouse, where you perform a song on a stage with sound (and coffee!). Because slots for the Coffeehouse are limited, there were be two drawings to determine who will perform. There will also be a floor filled with Private (late night) Guerrilla Showcase rooms and maybe you can host one! There is also an after hours jam room so you can play and sing after the PGS floor closes till just before the sun comes up, if you choose.
Trying to make a big impact at the conference, but on a budget? FAR-West has added a special “buy more and save” option to reduce the cost of marketing and promotion. Purchase 2 or more of the specified merchandise options at the same time (tote bag insert, Networking Center table, full page color ad, half page or larger black and white ad) to get 20% off each item using the code 2fer in the box when registering. Sorry, we can’t make adjustments after your purchase is completed. However, if you decide to add a second item later, you will be able to take advantage of the discount for that 2nd item if you use the 2fer code. (Go to the conference website to see Marketing and Promotion info)
Having trouble finding the funds to attend? The Roz and Howard Larman Memorial Scholarship may be the answer. Scholarships to assist with registration will be awarded in two groups: the first in June, the second in late July. The early awards will consider applications made by May 31st, and the final submission deadline for all applications is July 31st. Early awards of funds will give attendees more time to arrange travel and/or tour plans. Even those applicants not awarded assistance in the first group will still be considered in the second round. If you are applying for a Larman Scholarship, you don’t need to wait to register. Just use the “pay by check” method, and send a $25 deposit to our treasurer, Ronnie Weinberger, within 3 weeks of your registration. The check will be returned if you are awarded a scholarship, applied to registration, or other fees. This will enable you to apply for performance opportunities without having to wait. (Larman info)
